DAAD delegation trip to Germany

As part of a DAAD delegation visit, four Moroccan higher education institutions are jointly presenting their degree programmes in German: the FLSH Fès (Dhar El Mahraz), the FLSH Rabat (Mohammed V University), the FLSH Aïn Chock (Université Hassan II Casablanca) and the ESRFT Tangier.

The aim is to outline the current situation of German studies in Morocco, to identify challenges such as the brain drain and the shortage of German teachers, and to explore possibilities for support from the DAAD – with a view to establishing Master’s programmes in German studies.

German-Moroccan university cooperation in practice

Lecture entitled ‘German-Moroccan university cooperation in practice: experiences, challenges and success factors’ as part of the iDA seminar ‘Regional Expertise: Morocco’ (online).

Drawing on three practical examples – the 2023 Migration Conference in Casablanca, the exchange between Casablanca and Göttingen, and a joint project initiative – the factors contributing to the success of German-Moroccan university partnerships are identified. Funding and visa procedures emerge as key obstacles; five recommendations are aimed at universities wishing to establish partnerships with Moroccan partners.
